Dictation and Meeting Notes in Wispr Flow
Wispr Flow now covers two related jobs: speaking instead of typing and working with information from meetings. Dictation inserts edited text into an application, while Notetaker produces a record and summary of a conversation. The tools share a product family, but their platforms, allowances and access controls differ.
Someone writing many short emails may mainly need reliable dictation. A team following decisions across several calls may place more value on meeting notes and search. Identify that primary task before choosing a tier or assuming that a feature shown for one product applies to the other.
Speaking Naturally into Everyday Applications
The published dictation workflow removes filler words, adds punctuation and formats a spoken draft. It also accounts for revisions made while speaking. This can help turn an informal explanation into an email or document without first typing every sentence.
Vocabulary learning and the dictionary support names and specialist terms. Snippets expand a spoken shortcut into reusable text, such as a standard introduction or recurring link. Different writing styles can also be applied to different app contexts, where a work email and a casual message need different presentation.
For a useful evaluation, dictate material that resembles regular work, including a name, a number and a correction. Review the inserted result before sending it. Removing hesitation is helpful, but the final wording still needs to preserve the actual date, qualification or commitment that was spoken.
Notetaker's Separate Information Spaces
The current Notetaker documentation distinguishes personal thoughts, the AI summary and the transcript. Personal notes can be written during a call and edited afterward. Changing the generated summary does not rewrite those notes, which is useful when separating a participant's own interpretation from the recorded conversation.
Meeting questions provide another way to retrieve information. A follow-up about an agreed deadline should be checked against the source conversation, especially where several projects or people have similar names. A concise generated answer is a starting point for finding the relevant decision rather than proof that no qualification was missed.
Recording availability is currently tied to supported Mac and Windows versions and the account's settings. The documentation also distinguishes the system-default microphone used by Notetaker from the microphone setting for dictation. Check the correct input and obtain participants' agreement before transcribing.
Sharing Notes and Exporting Context
Sharing a meeting and copying its full contents are different operations. The documentation says personal thoughts are excluded from a shared note, while a full Markdown copy can include those thoughts with the other meeting material. Review the selected export before using it in another workspace.
Transcript access also has its own permission conditions. Receiving a summary link does not automatically provide every transcript or allow editing the owner's note. These distinctions matter when distributing a recap to a broad team while keeping a more detailed record for a smaller group.
Wispr also documents MCP connections for using meeting material in supported AI tools. The documented connection is read-only and does not expose local dictation history. Availability depends on platform, account and organization settings, so a general integration headline should not substitute for the current connection controls.
Free, Pro and Organization Features
The pricing comparison lists a free dictation allowance of two thousand words weekly on desktop and one thousand on mobile, with unlimited dictation in Pro. It separately describes limited or expanded Notetaker access and history. Unlimited dictation therefore should not be treated as unlimited access to every meeting feature.
Team tiers add functions such as shared vocabulary, centralized billing, user management and different administrative controls. More advanced sign-on and provisioning features sit in the relevant organization tiers. Compare the actual governance requirements alongside the number of people who will use the product.
