An app specification that develops into a working product
MeDo begins with a description of the product and turns it into a requirements plan. The builder can correct that plan before generation, then refine the result through conversation, preview selections or marked-up screenshots. This gives a nontechnical founder a way to explain a workflow without designing the entire database first.
The platform describes full applications rather than only page mockups. Accounts, forms, storage and server-side behavior can accompany the interface when the project requires them. A booking system needs rules about availability, records and who can change a reservation.
Records, users and the generated admin area
App data lives in backend tables. The Table editor provides a direct view of rows, with filtering, cell editing, manual insertion and CSV import. An app can also have a generated admin page for day-to-day work, such as updating an order status or reviewing form submissions.
These are related but different interfaces. The table view exposes the underlying records, while the app’s admin area reflects the workflow requested during development. Include any required staff approval actions in the specification.
The documentation notes that the draft and published app share one backend environment by default. A test booking in preview can therefore become a real record. Separate development and production environments are available on eligible paid plans; otherwise, test data needs deliberate cleanup before live use.
A release is separate from an edit
Publishing creates a live MeDo address. After the first release, further edits can remain in the draft until the builder publishes an update. The published panel also includes controls for taking the app offline and managing distribution options.
That distinction supports a practical review process. Review forms and account permissions before releasing the approved version.
A custom domain and removal of the project watermark are paid-plan features in the current documentation. A shareable MeDo URL does not automatically include those presentation options. Likewise, a mobile build and an app-store release are separate stages with their own packaging and distribution requirements.
Hosting pages and keeping the backend available
A published page can remain reachable while its backend is paused. MeDo explains that a Free-plan backend pauses after five consecutive inactive days; the interface may open while stored information cannot be read or saved. Backend keep-alive is available through Pro and Max.
This matters for a small booking site that receives occasional traffic. A live-looking home page is not enough to establish that its booking form is operating. Choose the backend arrangement according to how the application will be used, and monitor the credit balance supporting its operation.
An internal portal also needs appropriate access rules. Describe which role may read or modify each type of record. Generated authentication is a capability, while the actual authorization policy still needs to match the business.
Build credits are only one part of the budget
MeDo’s credit system distinguishes build messages, analysis, publishing and ongoing backend use. Deep Build and Fast Build have different charges. Source-code downloads and mobile packaging are also separate metered actions in the current rules.
Subscription credits, daily rewards and purchased credit packs have different expiry conditions. The account’s Credit details view records grants, charges and expiry dates, while Credit rules provides the live calculation. Budget for the app’s operation after launch as well as the first successful generation.
Source export offers a route to self-hosting, but moving an application involves more than saving its files. The receiving environment must provide the required database, secrets and services. Treat a downloadable project as the starting point for that migration, with the associated operational responsibilities.

Medo FAQs
Can MeDo create an app with stored records?
Yes. Its documentation describes generated backend tables, accounts, file storage and server-side logic. The actual components depend on the requested app.
Do edits immediately replace the live interface?
Draft edits are released through publishing an update. However, the default single backend is shared by draft and live versions, so preview actions can still change real records.
Can a free app’s pages open while its data is unavailable?
Yes. The documentation says an inactive Free-plan backend can pause after five days. Pages may remain accessible while database reads and writes are unavailable.
Is downloading source code the same as free self-hosting?
No. The current documentation meters source downloads and makes export a paid-plan feature. Running the exported app also requires the necessary hosting and backend configuration.
